I feel like I am in a new stage in my life and my work, so I felt it appropriate to start a new blog. This new blog will be more convenient since it is combined with my main website. Click the link above to check it out. I hope you enjoy it and that you continue to check in every once in a while. Thanks so much for your interest in my work. I love hearing your comments and knowing I have some friends out there who like my work. It is very motivating and I am so grateful for your continuing support!

For Illustration Friday's "Underwater" theme. Completely digital - well, except for some scanned textures. I have missed doing IF themes! I wish I had more time to do art for fun.

Tiny Talks

Heres a sneak peek at my latest book illustration project. The book is called "Tiny Talks" by Heidi Doxey and is part of a series of books to help kids and their parents prepare talks for primary. It will be released in time to coincide with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints new primary themes for next year. I did one illustration for each month as well as the cover.

My school - Southern Virginia University
Hello everyone! Sorry I have not posted in forever. Our little family made a big move from Utah to Virginia last month and I started a new job, a new book illustration project, and a new semester at a new school! I am so excited to be here and be so close to historical architecture and art! It is truly beautiful here. I was able to quickly browse through the National Gallery of art in D.C. last week and will be spending a whole day there on the 12th of October (I am so excited). I know I am going to have lots of awesome art experiences here. I promise to keep the blog updated with my art adventures and post all my latest artwork!

The Holy Ghost is Like a Blanket

Here are some finished spreads from my latest book project - a picture book called The Holy Ghost is Like a Blanket, written by Annalisa Hall. It has been a truly great project to work on, and I am extremely pleased with how it turned out. It teaches children about the Holy Ghost using simple analogies, like a rose, a seashell, an umbrella, and others.

The book will be officially released on August 13th, but there are copies available already on Amazon. It is a great baptism gift, sunday book or bedtime story. I'm really proud of it and I hope you have the chance to pick up a copy. You can find out more about it and read some reviews here.

P. S. My little family is going to be moving to Virginia next month! It will be a big change from rural Utah and we are very excited! I'll keep you posted on the great new art experiences I have in the east!

Trompe L'oeil

This is a Trompe L'oeil painting (meaning "to fool the eye"). 6" x 10", oil on panel. I did it for my oil painting class a couple semesters ago and kind of forgot about it.

Edinburgh - Oil Sketch

I've been really into oil painting lately. This is a quick study I did of Edinburgh, Scotland, from a photo I took when I was there at age 13. I'm pretty new at oils so its exciting to experiment with a new medium.
